A nice retro update..

...Which includes the original as well as arranged versions of Xevious. The 3D iteration steals the show with a powerup system reminiscent of the "===Crisis/storm" series. The games are all challenging but never unfair. A worthy addition to any Shmup fan.May not be suitable for easily frustrated children.Plays on Playstation1-3

Quick review for an amazing vertical shoot-em-up.

Control: Excellent. If you die in this game it's because of your own mistakes as the game brings genuine challenge.Gameplay: A vertical scrolling shmup that even includes the old arcade classic as well as an arranged mode with remixed music. The newer mode is a fresh take on the concept with incredible new weapons, improved graphics even for the Playstation, and so challenging that it maintains its high replay value.Graphics: Decent for its time as it was released in 1996, note the Kids to Adults rating instead of the E for Everyone.Sound: Incredible music that you can even listen to outside the game, that is the arranged music anyway. Not so much the repetitive music of the classic. Other sound effects remain strong even for today's standards.Camera: The camera view will never fail you as it is always going to be in the vertical shoot-em-up style. Maintain total awareness.I highly recommend this game to even non shoot-em-up fans. It will make your money worth it.

needs a joystick

Great classic game but it needs a joystick to be better. Its hard to move as well as you need to. The classic arcade machine is more fun.
